Has anyone flown with Qatar Airways out of Aus?

So, 3 weeks for my camino lebaniego and the excitement is bubbling!
Our tickets go from Canberra all the way to Santander, via Doha with Qatar Airways. They started flying from Canberra less than a year ago and I have no idea of what to expect.
Has anyone travelled with them before? How does it compare with Aus local companies, or maybe Etihad and Emirates? How is the stop in Doha in terms of services?

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Hi have flown twice with them myself and my partner is going again on Thursday for the 4th time. Absolutely no worries with Qatar and the stopovers have been minimal in Doha with a very short one last time which necessitated 11 of us returning to Perth being escorted quickly to our connecting flight.
The staff on board are all different nationalities, young and attentive.
Enjoy your flight and Buen Camino

Fantastic airline. New planes. Great service. Being 1.93 metres had no problems with leg room. Out of Barcelona last year they recognised my height and gave me exit seats all the way to Sydney. Flying out with them again on 16th April to Madrid from Sydney. Can't think of anything bad about them.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
I have flown with QA multiple times from Doha to the USA - they are a class act. Great service, new airplanes, and Doha is a great airport.

That is impressive! I'm 1.57m, so looks like there will be plenty of room!
Thanks, everyone, feeling much more at ease now :)

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
I regularly fly with them to Europe these days. Melbourne-Doha-Berlin, which is not offered by any other airline.. My opinion is that they are pretty good, although I have noticed the effects of cost-cutting in the past couple of years (eg. reduced economy-class service on-board, seats that were clearly past being comfortable). They are safe and pleasant, and the new airport in Doha is outstanding. By the way, they have a deal whereby if you are obliged to transit Doha for more than 8 hours you can book a 4 or 5-star hotel in town for a nominal sum. I am doing it on my return leg from Berlin in June.

Flown with them many times and can't fault them. Next time in two weeks.

I'm also in Australia and have flow Qatar a number of times. In my opinion, the airline is of similar quality of Emirates but offer far tastier food. Doha is a pretty good airport, its big but not so big that it takes you forever to find your gate.

I've been flying with Qatar ever since they started operating from Australia...in other words, for years. I won't fly with anyone else. They have the best schedules for Europe. You leave eg Melb at a decent hour (usually around 10pm) & land at your Euro destination early arvo...gives you plenty of time to get to your hotel & get oriented still in daylight. Their prices are always best whether you book 10 months in advance or 10 days.
I did notice last trip they had started to shove more seats into economy so was fearing the worst for this current trip. However I was pleasantly surprised to find the economy cabin configuration was back to how it used to be...perhaps based on customer feedback.
Brand spanking new planes, excellent in-seat entertainment system, food of high standard, snacks (sandwiches, chips, chocolate, icecream) available throughout & flight attendants are up & down the aisles with a drinks tray during the night.
Fear not, you're in good hands!

I agree that it is a good airline but I'll put in a plug for Royal Brunei. Good service but alas no alcohol. I booked yesterday return to london for $1195 leaving in late may. If you book ea r lier the same fare can be just under $1000

I flew with Qatar last August from Canberra and found the service and condition of the airplane to be great. Sydney to Doha leg might be a little long but with my enthusiasm to start walking I didn't notice it that much. Buen Camino

Good tip for airline alternative. What are Royal Brunei like schedule-wise, flight duration & transit time/place?

You won't get stoned on-board but if you intend to transit and are of a certain sexual orientation you certainly risk it...
