Has anyone stayed at Hotel Forum Evolución in Burgos?

Has anyone stayed at Hotel Forum Evolución in Burgos? It appealed to me both as a peaceful overnight after a long flight and also because of its proximity to the bus station.

However the dates I want are unavailable through the usual mega booking sites, and a search on the hotel's own website brings up a timed-out, broken link. I emailed them but received no response. Maybe it's worth a phone call, but I thought I'd canvass the forum first.

Has anyone stayed at this hotel and did you book with them directly? Many thanks.

Try the Hotel Norte y Londres which is like a good private club; all is comfy, gracious, very relaxed and inexpensive.

Oh @mspath I don’t know why I opened this thread as the hotel name in the OP’s question didn’t ring a bell with me.

But when I read your reply for some reason I clicked on the link and realised I stayed at the Hotel Norte y Londres on my first camino in 2011. I stumbled in to Burgos weary and hot after a 38 km walk in the blistering heat. Back then, either there wasn’t a riverside alternative walk in - or at least I didn’t know about it - so I’d spent the last few hours of that day on the unforgiving industrial outskirts.

I dragged myself in to the Office de Tourismo at just before 6pm closing time and asked them to point me to the nearest 2 or 3 star hotel. The gentleman took me out the front door, and pointed to a nearby plaza. And so I came to be at the Hotel Norte y Londres. I was given a light and spacious room looking over the Plaza and and to my delight there was a bathtub! It was heaven. Gréât location too. A rare splurge on a private room in those days.

Here’s a photo I took from the Plaza when I headed out for dinner. If you look closely at the open window on the second floor left - you can just make out my washing strung up on a makeshift clothes line.

Ok, it was 11 years ago - but if it’s as good as it was then, I’d highly recommend.

Glad that you had a happy memory. In 450 cumulative nights over 10 caminos it was one of the very few non albergues I ever stopped at. However I did and loved it.

In 2011 I stayed at albergue Casa del Cubo in Burgos but in 2013 I stayed at Norte y Londres in the spring.
Wonderful.
So on our regular holiday in the autumn we made a roadtrip through Spain and stayed here again.

A favourite of mine in Burgos is Hotel del Cid - just in case you need a back-up plan. It is just across from the Cathedral.

Yes we stayed there in Oct. 2021; we booked through “Follow the Camino.com”. Our room was nice; breakfast was good; loved the location and there were fellow Peregrinas close by on our floor. I’d definitely stay there again.

The municipal albergue in Burgos by the Cathedral is the best Albergue that I have ever stayed in.....don't overthink it - just stay there.

As someone else has recommended, I splashed out and stayed at El Cid, right next to the cathedral. It's worth spending an extra day in Burgos, as it is a major city and there is a lot to see.

...fabulous city? There are indeed a good number of nice hotels and pensions. But in the nine or ten times I've stayed over the years, I find Burgos gastronomically a cheap tourist place. Usually, by the time that I arrive there (walking from SJPdP or Pamplona) I am keen to eat some really good food in a nice restaurant. (No pizzas, burgers, pinchos –there's no match with San Sebastian anyway–, in short: no fast, but slow gourmet food)
Forgive me to drift from the subject but as we are talking Burgos, maybe someone out there can give recommendations that change my impression; there must be a place or two.

I just finished reading some reviews for the single rooms at this Hotel Boutique Museo that you recommend. A good many of them note overall excessive noise and also that the single rooms advertised as "facing the inner courtyard" actually look out onto a glorified alley which houses a bank of noisy HVAC units. That's not the kind of overnight rest I'm looking for when I'm jet lagged after a long flight.

Stayed there 5 times, never had any noise, slepped like a baby.... but must admit: Never had a room "facing the inner courtyard".

I must also say that the gastronomy culture in Burgos is one of the lesser experiences in Spain.But yes @pepi : nothing beats San Sebastian or Pais Vasco when it comes to refined Spanish food.

Guide Michelin has 5 listings for Burgos. Alma, General Sanz Pastor 7, stands out in my memory. Local produce, and great fish and seafood, prepared and presented with enthusiasm and affection. The “menu peregrino” has never been available on my visits

Comosapiens in Atapuerca and La Curiosa in Mansilla de las Mulas are stand-outs, but there are many more. Just never, ever, eat the “peregrino” unless it really is the only game in town A Ciento Tres or a couple of Orujos will take the nasty taste away…

I second that - we stayed at the Hotel del Cid, and ate at the associated restaurant in 2018, based on recommendations I found here on the Forum. It was perfect for us and permitted much- needed extra rest day. I spent half of that day in the Museum of Human Evolution (in walking distance) and other half in the Cathedral. Burgos remains a highlight of my Camino, grateful to this Forum for pointing us to Hotel del Cid.

I ate at La Fàbrica. It was the single best meal I had in Spain.

I went to the Evolution Exhibit and I suspect you will want to be on The other side of the river— closer to the main cathedral in Santa Maria Plaza. Hotel Norte y Londres would be a perfect location.
