Has anyone visited the archaeological site at Tiermes?

On another thread, @Bachibouzouk suggested this stage, which would allow a detour off the Lana to visit the archaeological excavations at Tiermes.

Day 3: Retortillo de Soria to Tarancuena via GR86 and ruins at Tiermes (?? kms) - overnight Casa Rural Los Arrenes.

I think this would involve walking to Tarancueña and then just an out and back to Tiermes. Going Retortillo to Tarancueña via the GR 86, I think, is 16 km. (Via the Camino it‘s 8, at least that’s what I’ve seen).

From Tarancueña to Tiermes, all I can find is an 11 km untraveled road route. That puts the day at 38, without even including the kms one would spend walking around the site.

Here’s a link to some earlier info from the virtual thread.

Questions for the Lana crowd,

1. Have any of you gone to Tiermes, either walking or on a rest day? I ask mainly because I am always skeptical when I see something that strikes me as hyperbolic — Tiermes is described as the “Spanish Pompeii.”

2. Does anyonoe have a better walking plan? I know we talked about this on the virtual Lana thread, and it seemed to me then that to keep the distances manageable for a Retortillo to Tarancueña day with a visit to Tiermes, I would have to forego the GR 86 detour, which seems like a silly thing to do. But I would love some opinions!
