Went there years ago .Had an excellent Caldo and bravely we shared a bowl of little snails. They were delicious. I remember the wine came in bowls also.

Had lunch there with our French friends a few years ago. There was plenty of room for all 8 of us.

Do you ever go to O Gato Negro? Have tried to get in there a few times with out success, but I am not one to "push" through the crowds.
I went in May of this year. Two of us in the evening. We waited for about 15 minutes and then enjoyed an outstanding meal! And yes, the wine did come in bowls :)

@ivar, a nice idea for a thread! We all love talking about food (and drink).
Chipirones are one of my favorites and I often order them in Spain when offered on a menu, either fried or in sauces.
A restaurant I enjoy and return to for quality food at a reasonable price in Santiago is "Restaurante Tarara". I go early as it is small, cozy, and fills up fast.

I would certainly eat some Balearic octopus, in all its rubbery glory, but I may finally this year have had my fill of pulpo and etc.

I was massively spoiled on my 2014 in Portomarín, grilled food feast day, and a lovely Spanish peregrina just spontaneously got me some grilled meats and the pulpo they had, the latter being straightforwardly superior to any other I have eaten.

It's similar to how hard it is to enjoy any flan after you have been given a flán catalàn. And my first were in the 1970s ...

Planning to finish to Chemin Le Puy in April 2022.
I’d ask for 2 primos, it’s not usually a problem. I’d have the chiperones and the ensalada mixta. I wish I was there.

I had pulpo cooked in the open air bbq - that included paella, meats and chips - at the Zafra Agricultural Show this year. It was amazing and I think the best I ever had, apart from one time in Portugal.
Although I often want to become a vegetarian in Spain because the distance between the actual animal and my meal seems very small.

I spotted these posters for a festival weekend in a town on the Via de la Plata. Hard to imagine quite such a direct connection being celebrated here in the UK. Too squeamish!

I think the honesty about the source of animal protein is quite appropriate. I’ve personally hunted, killed, cooked and eaten my dinner many times. It’s left me with a genuine respect for the animal concerned. It has, also, vastly reduced the number of times I eat meat.

There is clearly an obvious word for vegetarian in Spanish * and vegetarian and vegan food is much more easily found in Spain than it was 30 years ago. It’s still worth watching out for a sprinkle of tuna on your ensalada mixta though.

* although as‘Blackadder’ fans will recall; there is no word in German for ‘fluffy’

I don't know very much about UK's "Blackadder" although a few short clips I've seen are hilarious. I will say my older sister said a few years ago that she and her retired friends were becoming a bit "fluffy", as in a few pounds heavier....so much kinder than saying they were getting "fat".

Far be it from me to encourage thread ‘drift’ (cough); but: Blackadder.

Ignore series 1; it was an experiment which failed.

2 is good, 3 excellent and parts of 4 outstanding. The final scene of the last episode of series 4, if watched after you have come to know the characters; is very emotional indeed.

Some of the humour is a bit ‘posh English’ but most is international (except for Germany, sorry folks but some haven’t moved on from “two world wars and one World Cup” yet. Another couple of generations maybe.)

So true ..... in 2016 we were served a chicken meal, which we ate with relish, then watched with horror as out in the garden next door the next chickens met their fate for the later meal.
