hi everyone . I am looking for some advice I am in Poio and tomorrow begin the climb to Armenteira espiritual way .. while I do not mind the climb if I am not inland. Limping I may have a problem as I am terrified of heights .. can snyond advise me please .. is it similar to the climb from Porte de Lima in that it was inland ?? All advice would be helpful .. many thanks

Sorry I am not limping that is a typo just cannot cope v well if I am climbing on the edge of a mountain but climbing inland fine

The climb from Combarro to Armenteira is worse than the Alto de Portela Grande between Ponte de Lima and Rubiães.
In Combarro you could take the bus ,1 stop and there transfer to a minibus who transports you to Armenteira-stop there is in front of the monastry. From there you could walk the beautiful ruta de pedras e de augas, 7 kms along a river between medieval watermills. Two kms further on you can sleep at hostal Os Castaños and next day will be a flat 14 kms to Vilanova de Aroussa.
The landlady atvthe hostal can find out for you what time the boat is sailing to Pontecessures/Padrón.

The climb from Combarro to Armenteira is worse than the Alto de Portela Grande between Ponte de Lima and Rubiães.

You have no idea how this phrase scared me. Alto da Portela Grande felt much, MUCH worse than Cebreiro to me, and to think that there is something even worse is terrifying ==
On the other hand, Portela Grande has maybe the most impressive view of the entire Portuguese Camino

Hi Teresa, it is inland, and there are no scary bits at all. It is a long, long climb, but it is all quite doable, just take your time. I have a fear of heights, and would definitely remember. I thoroughly enjoyed that day to Armenteira, even with the climb. When you get around the top, near a viewpoint, you will see a big sign, saying that Armenteira is another 5kms. It is actually about 7kms. Several of the others I chatted to that evening said they were getting really worried, on the way down to Armenteira, that they had missed the overnight stop, as it seemed to go on forever. But don’t worry, the path comes down the hill, through the woods, and straight into the front door of a very welcome bar!

Thank you so much Jill .. I am here in Armenteire sitting outside drinking coffee .. what a wonderful walk the hill was fine had worked myself up into thinking it would be Everest .. I would recommend to everyone to step of Camino central walk the espiritual way .,. Buen Camino

thank you so much I have arrived the climb was fine views stunning .. now to decide where to stay or walk on ..

... what a wonderful walk the hill was fine had worked myself up into thinking it would be Everest ..

I remember the locals in Combarro telling me they would never go up the hill because of the wildlife .
