currently on day 3 of Caminho da Costa. Almost at belinho and so far only seen one arrow leaving Esposende. Have been fine pointing north along ocean following small paths and farmers tracks. But one blog indicates the route "Eventually for the first time I start to head inland and start a climb next to a river gorge until I reach a village and where there is a small vineyard. ". Given the lack of arrows I am concerned about finding my way away from the ocean. On iBook there is a map but it looks like several km along busy highway.

Any assistance is appreciated. I hav Brierley Portugal 2015 but no maps beyond day 1 from Porto.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
This is the iBook I have. But hav not been able to find any arrows or markers. Do you know how it is marked?

Made across the bridge Ponte Sebastaio. First large Camino sign on road to right - still along the very busy N13. I hAve walked almost 19 km searching in many directions for some kind of arrows. The iBook which is by a renouned Portuguese Camino expert shows 9.5 of 18 km to this point. And it seems that I am to head left instead of following the large Camino sign.

Found a lovely restaurant just past the bridge run by someone who used to live in Canada. A welcome rest and support. I will head left from here.

Ariana Yoda,
Viana do Castelo is a very nice seaside town with a pilgrim albergue, S. João da Cruz dos Caminhos. However if you are searching for private accommodation, consider the Hotel Residencial Laranjeira, rua Candido dos Reis 45. It a charming newly furnished small place with a very good dining room. Just before Christmas 2014 a double room with private bath and delicious breakfast was 45 euros. Quite a bargain!

Bom Caminho!

There are very few markings when you go left after Ponte Sebastiao. I followed the Freixo maps to stay along the coast, but ended up in some dunes and had to find my own way. The markings get much better between Viana and Caminha (and it was my favorite day walking).

Be aware that there are few arrows in the city of Viana so you will need to pay attention to the map. I think I followed the dotted red line and found the arrows pretty quickly.

Bom Caminho!

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.
