Hello Alice,

This walk will involve some climbing, but not too bad. There are a lot of possibilities to make each day as long as you’d like.

Take a look at Gronze.co. It’ll give you a good idea of what to expect:

Buen camino. Enjoy your way.

Thank you will do. Have decided that do it at my pace. First day may be the hardest i guess. First and last days my longest. As its my first have gone with self guided tour so no need for me to carry a heavy backpack. After reading all the positive comments beginning to feel very positive about the walk. Thanks again😊

If you are erica (or Erica), who is alicev? If you are in O Pedrouzo the day before you finish, it is quite a long walk to Santiago. If the Cathedral will be open then, and you want to attend the 12 o'clock Mass, you need to leave O Pedrouzo really early. If you can find accommodation nearer to Santiago -- San Paio or Vilamaior -- it would be easier. I can't remember any real hills between Sarria and Santiago. There is a long climb out of Portomarín, but it is just that -- long -- but not steep.

I think I understand: you tried to join with the name "erica" but you were told that there was already a member with that name. That's why I am "Bert 45" -- there was already a Bert on the forum. "45" was just a convenient number. Sometimes I have found that Bert1, Bert2, etc have already been used.

I have walked from O Pedrouzo to Santiago twice. It wasn't that far. Lots of pilgrims walk it as their final stage.

Oh yes, I've walked from O Pedrouzo three times, but if you want to get to Santiago by 12 o'clock, with time to deposit your rucksack, it's quite an effort. Gronze.com says it is 19.4 km, so I would guess you need to be on your way by 7:30. You also need to allow time for a stop or two on the way to get a couple of sellos if not for anything else.

People are mentioning the stages that are "suggested" places to stop each night. There is no rule that you have to follow them. I would say what might be alot harder than the walk is the number of Pilgrims you may encounter. Although I guess the earlier you walk in April the fewer the numbers. There are lots of places to stay along the way from Sarria. My recommendation is to walk and see how you feel. There will be albergues every couple of kilometers. So if you are tired or in pain just stop. Listen to your body and I would recommend always walking a few kilometers less rather than more.
If you have Gronze.Com and download some free apps like Wise Pilgrim and Buen Camino there will be more places than you can imagine to find a place to rest at night. In April they will all be open and you should be fine. In fact if it is extremely crowded you will probably have more luck sleeping in villages that are not "stages".

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.
