It is still listed as a forthcoming release on the Royal Mint of Spain's website but when it is issued you can buy it from their online shop.

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

€149,-
Beautiful coin! I wonder in time as the coin wears down a little if the color lessens or eventually possibly disappears. @Peter Fransiscus is using it as his new Avatar.
If they are like the Canadian special edition Remembrance Day coins that had red poppies, then yes... the colour will disappear over time.
But if I can get one of these, I will keep it in a box with my 50 franc note commemorating Le Petit Prince.

I have done the same thing with a few other additions.

10,000 Lira was worth about $6 USD, it probably would not have paid for a slice of pizza!
Two of the other notes are worth quite a bit more for collectors, the Aussie 10 is a commemorative of the author of The Man From Snowy River and the Aussie 50 was the first time they released Mylar currency with the "see thru" windows making it virtually impossible to counterfeit currency.

Well send me whichever one has the most value.😊

Hard to believe but after looking at a coin and currency collector's site:
the 10 Aussie note is worth $40,
the 10,000 Lira note is worth $40,
and drum roll please, the 50 Aussie note is worth an amazing $462.
I guess it pays off to keep your change rather than toss it into a charity bin as you leave places you have lived in or visited.

Wow, Don! That $50 is sure going to pay for more than a few Crownies if you sold it and are able to get over to Oz to see your Aussie pilgrim mates! Your shout!
Cheers - Jenny

Sadly, you might be right. The issue with the neuropathy in my right foot has gotten much worse and now it is affecting my left foot as well. There does not appear to be any therapy, medicine or specialist who can do much other than offer me advice that it is going to continue to get worse. it is a real bummer.
I bought the Ano Santo credential last year and plan to fill it with stamps even if I am traveling by car and train. It will be my 12th and final credential completing a collection of many years of great memories.
I have booked a flight to Bilbao and my plans takes me to Barcelona, Montserrat, Zaragosa, Pamplona, San Sebastian, Biarritz, Bayonne and points in between with 4 days in Lisbon before I head home. I may do some walking in the Meseta. Time will tell. Ultreia!

Don, sorry to hear your neuropathy is untreatable, but your plan sounds like a great alternative. Half the joy is the walking, the other half is being in Spain and you will be going to many of your favorite places anyway; definately a trip to look forward to!

Multicoloured collector coins are new to me. Here are a few more from the shop of the Spanish Royal Mint:

I was curious about the covid 19 coin. It looks like it’s a big thank you to all the front line service providers. A little googling took me to a page describing that Italy has minted a 2€ coin with the same message.

Are 30€ coins legal tender? Cash registers aren’t likely to have a separate box for them.

30 € coins are not legal tender. They are sold as a commodity at the price that is set by the national mint, no matter what it says on the face of the coin, and later at the price that you can get from another collector. You pay 21% VAT when you buy them.

However, the Covid-19 "Gracias" coin is different. You may have noticed that this coin is sold at face value (30 €) and that is says "exchange" underneath the photo. It means that you can return the coin to the Royal Mint or to participating banks and you will get 30 € in real money in return.

The 2 € "Grazie" coin issued by Italy is something else. These coins are legal tender. The eurozone countries issue series of such special 2 € coins every year. By now, dozens if not hundreds of such special 2 € coins have been issued by the various eurozone countries. Many of them do end up in collectors' hands but many continue to circulate. Spain issued such a special 2 € in 2018 that commemorates the town of Santiago and the saint. Special issues of 1 € coins or eurocent coins are not allowed.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
2 € coins from Italy and from Malta, issued in 2021, saying 'Grazie' and 'Heroes of the Pandemic'.

I don't know whether any eurozone country, other than Spain, has ever issued any coin, whether legal tender or not, that relates to the pilgrimage and/or the Ways of Saint James.

I know this is off topic, but it is related to coins, so I am going to post it. ;)

This article from El País estimates that the equivalent of 1.6 BILLION euros was not turned in by the deadline for getting rid of your pesetas.

That’s a real windfall for the Banco de España. I was surprised to see that the deadline for turning in pesetas was so recent, August of this year in fact.

This also happened in several other countries and the suspicion is it was money that had been earned from illegal activities and under the table transactions and probably never reported to tax authorities. In other words, you can't bring in a wheel barrow full of old currency for conversion to euros if you are a drug dealer.

The article says that pesetas worth €1.6 billion have not been converted and this corresponds to €33 per resident in Spain. In Germany, the numbers are even higher: D-Mark worth €6.5 billion have not yet been converted. And the population is not much higher, around 47 million (Spain) to 67 million (West Germany). There is no time limit in Germany but it is now more hassle than initially as you now do need to go the national bank to change old money into new money.

It is surprising how much money in coins and occasionally in banknotes turns up over the years. I've easily found old European money to the tune of around €15-20 over the last few years, in pockets of clothing, in a box, in envelopes. Probably like many others, I cannot be bothered to do something about it. I remember that I've thrown French Franc banknotes away because it would have been too much trouble to go to the appropriate bank during a visit in France, I've thrown coins away from those countries where it is now too late to change coins into euro. I still have the Deutschmarks.

Apparently, one continuous source for larger amounts of old currency are inheritance sums because older people were more inclined to keep large amounts of cash at home than younger people. I am sure this applies to Spain, too.
