Hi
This is my family first Camino. My son is 10 years and wife are both great horse riders (we own horses) and would love to do one or two days on route from Porto. Please give us advise how to do it if at all possible.
Just one or two days horse or donkey. Thanks

Edited: oops, sorry. I reread your post and see you are talking about from Porto.

On the Frances:
The most commonly known opportunity is a horse ride up the hill to O'Cebreiro. I forget the village it starts from, but it's just a couple of hours ride. The farm advertises right on the camino and the trail goes past the horse barn.

There is a farm somewhere around Logroño that has rented out rides for pilgrims. Not cheap, as they have to trailer the horses back home after the one day, but the people I met who did this were pretty happy with the experience. They organized this on the camino, likely by asking around at albergues and maybe at tourist offices in larger towns.

The principle should apply though. Check with tourist offices along the way.

Good luck.

Check out the Portugese camino via horseback as cited in this web.

This is a fine French account of one rider and his horse riding towards Santiago. --
