Travelling to Sarria on Saturday 4th July - getting concerned about footware. Would hiking sandals be best? My last 2 25k training walks in hot UK weather resulted in blisters dispute different sock regime. My first camino - help please?

if you go for approach shoes as i would, then definitely non gore-tex, or waterproof liner of any sort. You need those suckers to breathe!

Coat your feet in Vaseline before putting on a sock. Each time you stop during the day take your shoes and socks off let the feet breathe. Reapply the Vaseline before you put them back on. This kept my feet blister free :)

Trekking sandals are fantastic, especially in the rain since your feet will dry the second the rain stops ad you put on a new pair of socks. Just make sure they are true trekking sandals, not the "pretty city walk" type, you want the thread to last.
