I am now doing the last planning for my Camino Ingles in September. Today I wanted to book a room in Santiago when I am finished walking. I would like to stay at HS Martin Pinario and sent them a mail and asked for a pilgrim's room. The answer was negative as I in fact expected, I know I am too late. Then I tried Booking.com and was so happy to see there were rooms, I suppose hotel rooms. Then I saw the price: € 1.000! Can this be possible? Not even the Parador has such prices. Can anyone come up with an explanation?

New Original Camino Gear Designed Especially with The Modern Peregrino In Mind!
I checkt Booking.com for the 25th of September a double room and the Parador was €287,-
Didn't saw a price of €1000,-
Maybe it was a mistake,I don't know.

Wish you well,Peter.

I am going to have a look again tomorrow. I agree with you, it must be a mistake...

I just checked for September 17 and the few days before, on Booking.com and found the price of about 1000 Euros. It said that only 1 room was left, which just means that Booking.com only has one room. However, maybe that week is special.

You should email the Hospedaria directly and ask what they have, and what the price is.

What date do you plan on arriving?
There are other places to stay in Santiago ... many wonderful places, including private houses.
Maybe try the day before or after your planned destination date?

I can't change the date, but I have already booked a room in Hotel Avenida. A bit expensive but this might be my last visit to Santiago so I think I can spoil myself...

I have already mailed them, no rooms available.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
I guess that is the message from booking.com, as well.:D
I have no problems accepting that since I am rather late in booking, I just wonder about the price. Who would pay €1.000 for a hotel room?

Of there was a football game in town, many would, depending on the game :D.

Many hotel (and airplane) tarifs are run by a logarithm. That explain some occasional very odd results (which, sadly, always tend to the expensive side). The Hospederia may have no idea of this.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-

Book directly on San Martin Pinario's website. They have rooms for a few days still in September: 1, 2, 3, 7 & 17 and at around 50€.

Yes, go directly to their own website. Not as good a deal as the pilgrim rooms by email, but still very competitive with other hotels nearby.

Tulle......last year i had to abandon ( back ache ) my camino and catch the overnight bus to Santiago which arrived about 10 am . I walked from the bus station ( very slowly ) and was desperate for a lie down so on passing the Hotel Avedida i just asked the receptionist if there was a room available for the evening . The lovely receptionist , who was checking people out , could see i was in pain said to just wait in reception for 10 mins and she would get the housemaid to clean a room for me and i could move in straight away . I was given a lovely room with 1 single and 1 double bed at the rear and was showered and in bed by 11am .
The next morning i had a fabulous buffet style breakfast which was included in the 55 euros price .....what a great hotel , enjoy your stay .

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Well, I have tried both email and website but there are no rooms for my date. And as I wrote earlier, it's ok with me, but I really wondered about the price. Now Felipe might have the explanation.
I'm staying at San Martin Pinario before the Camino (Ingles) so all is well:))

Like others already said : Avenida is a wonderful place. Central though relatively quiet and close to busstop.

Yes it might be correct if in centre of Santiago .... try places just a little out ... no need to stay in centre

Last year, months ahead we had the same experience and really wanted to stay at San Martin de Pinario. We ended up booking at PR Fornos, not far and across from the airport bus. We went to San Martin for lunch one day, and it was packed! There was a religious convention ( many men in attractive long robes) going on at the hotel and almost every room had been booked by the attendees.

Must be a typo. Depending upon the date in September, there are still rooms available for 100 Euro a night.;) Bookings.com does not manage pilgrims accommodation. Apart from that, any hotel can show occupied on their calendar and still keep rooms available for direct selling. Particularly during high demand periods.:)

Both the parador and hospideria have there own websites inc in english. I booked the hospideria direct in advance through their site, availability is clearer and their is no price and cancellation advantage with booking.com...
The parador site is similar 're cancellation terms but if you join their amigo scheme and check prices depending on age for example you will usually get a better price.

I am just curious if you liked PR Fornos as I have a booking there next month. At a very good price so I am not expecting it to be amazing and as you say very handy for the airport bus just across the Plaza

I was so curious about this price of € 1000 for the room in San Martin Pinaro that I sent an email to them and asked if it is correct. And yes, booking.com has this price. But now they have a pilgrim's room for my date! So I can now choose between the luxury in Hotel Avenida or the atmosphere in San Martin...
