Hello!
I wonder if any one can help me. I am going to a conference at the Palacio de Congresos y Exposiciones de Galicia in June 2005 (19th-24th) and am trying to find somewhere to stay.
The conference organisers have offered some suggestions such as Monte do Gozo and the Husa hotels (Universal, Cuidad de Compostela and Santiago Apostol), unfortunately some of these are already fully booked.
I am attending the conference on my own, and won't know any one there, so I am getting a bit confused about where is best to stay, as I realize that the conference centre is not in the city centre. Is it possible to walk to Palacio de Congresos y Exposiciones de Galicia from any of the hotels/hostels in the city? I am quite happy to walk for 20-30minutes! There seems to be some great hostels/hotels around and I would really like to explore the city. I just didn't want to end up staying somewhere which was really inconvenient for getting to the conference or in the middle of nowhere, particularly as I will be on my own. Are taxis expensive and readily available, if need be?
I am used to travelling, so anything reasonably cheap and comfortable would suit me fine!
Any handy tips on a suitable hotel/location would be very gratefully received.
Thank you!
