This post might be helpful if you are a new forum user or even a long-time member who has noticed some changes that Ivar has recently made on the forum. Be assured that these changes should not affect the way you have been interacting here on the forum.

The main/front page of the forum (that you can reach by clicking on the Casa Ivar logo at the top of any page) has been re-organized. You might want to have a look at it, even if you normally browse from the “New posts” under "What's new" on the the menu at the top.

Scroll down a bit on that front page to see a listing of all the forum sections and sub-forums. The first five major sections are:
  • This Board – Includes Announcements from Ivar, pilgrim offices, lost & found, forum tips, etc.
  • Members Only – This includes a place to introduce yourself, say Hello to other members, or update the Calendar.
  • Getting Started on a Camino – This is a good place for general questions and discussions of planning and preparation for any Camino. Some Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) have been identified by moderators and put in this section.
  • Pilgrim Topics Related to all Routes – These include the ever-popular All Caminos Miscellaneous Topics, where threads should go if they don’t fit elsewhere. General camino videos, podcasts and links to other websites should go in the sub-forum named "Videos, Podcasts and Other". Scroll down past the sub-forums to read all posts on the many miscellaneous topics.
  • Routes in Spain and Portugal – Camino Frances is at the top, followed by other popular routes, and then a section for less-traveled routes. These forums are the place for your questions and discussion about stages, sights, challenges, accommodation, etc. on the specific routes. Routes in France and elsewhere are covered in the following sections.
Tips about “tags”...

Most of the “sub-forums” are created and automatically updated when tags are assigned to threads. Without a tag, the thread will not appear in a tag-search sub-forum, but it will still appear as always, under the sub-forum lists/links in each section.

Tags collect threads from across the forum sections. A tag-search for “history” or “fiestas holidays & markets” picks up threads from all forum sections.

More tips, only if you are interested…
  • All threads do not need to be tagged. They will still be in the forum section as always.
  • Tags can be added by the member when they are creating a new thread.
  • You can only use the existing tags. You cannot create new ones.
  • Moderators will add/delete/change tags as appropriate, and occasionally create new ones.
  • At the bottom of the main page you can see a cloud of Popular Camino Topics. These are the most popular tags.
  • For the complete list of tags available, click here. (This is found through Advanced Search | Search Tags.)
If you want more detailed guidance on how to use the Search feature of the forum, read this.

Since this thread is intended for information rather than discussion, it will be locked. If you have specific questions, feel free to ask in a private Conversation to me or another moderator. We'll update this post as appropriate, and keep it pinned to the FAQs.
