Hi! We're leaving on Friday 23rd May & forecast is for mostly fine weather from SJPP to Roncesvalles at the moment. There is a high weather system coming over Western Europe from this weekend 17th May onwards.. Temperatures are predicted to be 20C plus from Friday 16th onwards. Dropping to around 12C at night. Got these figures from AccuWesther. Hope this helps there may be fog above cloud cover when crossing the Pyrenees.

Ivar, this thread needs some help! "Starting in 1 week" was originally posted in 2013. Some people are going to read this and end up very badly misinformed if they don't scroll down to the bottom. The weather is lovely today in 2014 on the 14 may however it is a bit chilly and the temps will be close to zero in the mountains at night for the next few days.

Good plan. I started to get confused here myself but caught it just in time with the date change. Thank you!!

Quick weather update from Biarritz which is usually about 2 or 3 degrees warmer than the mountains. From the 2oth of May through the 27th the forecast is for lows around 12 and highs around 18. There is a light rain this morning, the 20th, and a rumble of thunder off in the distance. There was a spectacular electrical storm all night long and large hail falling early this morning. Rain is forecast for the 21th, 23th and 24th but the chances of rain on the other days are supposed to be between 0% and 20%.

And now for the weather update on 21 May, please forget everything I posted yesterday, the weather is very changeable this time of year and they are now forecasting rain for the net 10 days, however the temperatures will remain somewhat moderate and steady for the period.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Can I put in my order for sun starting June 1st, please? And just a bit warmer weather.
;)
Go ahead and turn the heater on so that everything will dry out quickly please.

Thanks.

Confused re best wthr forecast website : www.weather.com quite pessimistic for Pyrenees at moment (24th may); but www.accuweather.com much more optimistic for StJPP. Anyone in StJPP tonight who can advise???.
We will be StJPP tomorrow night (25th), hoping to go up as far as Orisson auberge on Monday 26th.
RSVP if u can advise
I will be one day behind you. Right now, I am seeing that leaving from SJPDP on Tuesday, but of course, that could change, but I am still optimistic as I really want to see the Napolean route as I walk thru!

On 26 May it is still raining and there are more rain days than clear days in the 10 day forecast but it is changeable this time of the year from day to day and hour to hour so I'll quit posting the forecasts. Be aware that May 29 and June 9 are public holidays (Ascension and Pentecost) and as such many trains and buses will probably be operating on holiday schedules, many stores will be closed or closing around noon and generally on these 3 and 4 days weekends, if the weather is agreeable, many locals will be taking advantage of the opportunity to enjoy the trails and outdoors experiences available to them.
If you wondering about Larry's photo posted yesterday, you will see from his previous post he covered that ground on the 16th of May, trust me it was raining yesterday..

I have been reading your weather reports with interest., (friend walking right now).

No doubt I'll see the flip side to the weather in sept . We'll probably be cooking (if it stops raining by then) lol.
All good though and part of the whole experience.

Thank you for your posts and pics..

In this period the weather varies. But you can expect some rain, or at least a damp weather. But even if you have a beautiful weather with sun, you should take a coat, because it's still rather cold.

The sun has been shining bright in Biarritz all day long (27/5) and the temperature is very enjoyable but what I see is storm cloud cover in the mountains. The forecast is rain until 5 June. I leave on the 6th and am already praying for St. James and Mother Nature to spare me, ha-ha!
