Plan walking in April 2017 10 days from S Jean
Hello,
Me and my friend am going to start to walk the Santiago's walk from S Jean on the 17th of April I got my passport / Certificate already and I would like to know if we need to book the public accommodations or the called Albergos in advance ? Or it's easier enough to find places for 2 people? I am just worried tha it might be too full because it's Easter season and I might get the risk of not finding any place to sleep? If I just pop in there? On the other hand I don't want to book anything in advance to have some flexibility on the route and on my pace .Maybe just one day in advance but more than that would not be suitable to me.

Please advise

Thank you

Cristiana

The pilgrim office in St Jean has a detailed list of hostels / albergues. Some accept advance reservations, it would be worth calling ahead since you are walking at a busy time. We also used Booking.com with great success.
Buen Camino

In SJPdP the Pilgrim Office at 39 rue de La Citadelle is on the camino. Purchase your Credencial and ask about albergue accommodation. The office keeps an up to the minute list of all places available and will help you find a bed/bunk when you are on site.

Furthermore this Gronze.com list in Spanish provides several options in SJPdP. Tap each citation for email addesses.
Booking.com listings for reservations are also cited.

Hi thanks for your reply ... well its hard to predict exactly where am I going to be in a certain day doing my itinerary in the Camino de Santiago so how can I book in advance? I thought the all spirit of this was to go with the flow? How much time in advance should I book for the week after Easter starting on the 17?

Cheers

You can just book the day before (or not bother) once you are on the way. If you book too far in advance you can end up changing your plans. Certain albergues are more advisable to book further ahead, e.g. your first night (because you may arrive late), Orisson, and the last few into Santiago. Otherwise just see how it goes. You can never book public (municipal), parish and donation albergues by the way, as that defeats their purpose. Gronze.com makes it clear which ones take bookings and which not.
