how to get to pamplona from madrid airport on 12 or 13 sept?

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Hi sjcutrara! Welcome to the forum!

Ouf of Madrid's airport you have two bus options:
  • PLM (http://plmautocares.com) has a daily except Sundays bus from Madrid's airport to Pamplona at 12:15 p.m.
  • Alsa (www.alsa.es/en) has more frequencies for the same route and they run it daily but you need to change buses along the route (most likely in Soria) while the PLM bus doesn't require any change.
An alternative to the bus is to take a train to Pamplona from downtown Madrid (Puerta de Atocha train station). In order to commute from the airport to that train station you can take either a Cercanías (commuter) train out of the Terminal 4 of the airport or the Express bus from either Terminal 1, Terminal 2 or Terminal 4. Trains to Pamplona as well as the Cercanías trains from the airport to downtown Madrid are operated by RENFE (www.renfe.com). For info about the Express bus: www.emtmadrid/Aeropuerto

I don't know if PLM has discounted fares by booking online in advance but both Alsa and RENFE have them (sometimes) so if you are sure about your departure time you might save some money that way but don't forget to read the rules of the discounted fare you are offered just in case you needed to cancel it or to change it for a later departure... If you aren't offered a discounted fare, most likely they are already sold out or they aren't offered on your travel date but you would have little to lose by waiting to see if a discounted fare is offered closer to your travel date because your ticket won't be more expensive than the full fare you are already seing. The only risk would be the bus or train might get full and you would need to take a different one (e.g.: a later one or go to downtown Madrid to take a bus instead of taking out of the airport...).

Note: RENFE offers sometimes discounted fares on long distance trains. Cercanías and Medium Distance trains (including Regional trains) are fixed fare.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Buses to Pamplona leave from Intercambiador de Avenida de America. Some but not all buses make a stop at the Airport.

Take EMT Madrid bus #200 from Airport to Avenida de America where it terminates.

PLM Autocares offers direct service from Madrid to Pamplona. There is one PLM Autocares bus that picks up at T4 airport daily.

ALSA offers service from Madrid to Pamplona with a transfer at either Soria or Zaragosa. Several ALSA buses pick up at T4 airport daily.

Prices vary on time of day. Sometimes deals are offered well in advance. Its not usually a major savings to buy bus tickets in advance.

Not daily but daily except Sundays. And it doesn't stop at T1 but at T4.

You had a lapsus. You meant Soria and not Sarria, didn't you?;)

I did mean Soria. Thanks for correcting the errors. I have edited.

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
We took ALSA from the airport T4 to Pamplona last October. The change in Soria is simple. Get off one bus, grab your pack, get on the other, off you go. If you don't speak Spanish, just say "Pamplona." Or follow the other pilgrims ;).
