Hi, and welcome to the Forum. The good news is, you are in a forum with a wonderful group of people. Most are here to help people like you to achieve their pilgrimage goals.

Try using Rome2Rio to help you get started comparing the costs and types of transportation.

For sleeping outside while camping, it is not forbidden to do so, but there are a number of regulations and restrictions which you would need to be aware of that can make it a bit difficult to do sometimes. However, it is not uncommon for this to occur.

Also, many alburgues will allow a tent to be put up on their grounds, but there may be a fee to do so. I do not know if it would always be the same amount charged to those sleeping inside in a bed, but the fee would generally allow you to use the showers, bathroom, laundry, etc.

I think your best bet is flying Ryanair to Western Europe. Last year I flew Ryanair from zadar to paris. In order to save money leave your poles home and don’t pay extra. I did it that way and went to a local Triathlon store and got the cheapest poles 5 euro each. I discard them before I went back home.
Happy planning.

Google will give you lots of articles about the law. While the law doesn't allow free camping / wild camping, there are people who take a tent or bivvy, depending on the season. They camp discreetly and/or with permission of the landowner. They avoid lighting fires, and do what it takes to leave no trace.

Is that a mini Decathlon?
