Part of the queue issue is that, as I understand it capacity in the Cathedral is still limited to 225 persons. The security staff keep careful counts of people entering through the two doors - Holy Door and South Transept (Plaza Praterias) and exiting via the North Transept (Plaza Inmaculada).

So, when there is a Mass occurring, the queue at the Holy Door should necessarily stop for about 45 minutes. Once Mass goers leave, a like number of worshippers can be allowed in.

This will likely continue until the capacity restrictions are raised or removed.

If this changed recently and I missed it, please correct me.

Hope this helps,

Tom

Most of those pilgrims are likely not foot pilgrims.

May the Apostle bless them !!

As a reminder, completing a Camino is not a prerequisite to qualify for the Jubilee Indulgence. In fact, I hope to be at Santiago sometime in September or October, either as a volunteer or a tourigrino.

After not seeing the Holy City of Santiago de Compostela for two years (August 2019), I need a fix. In either case, I plan to perform the actions my faith prescribes to qualify for this plenary indulgence.

I also need to give thanks at various shrines and churches for past divine intervention and actual physical cures. Coming back to say thank you is the least I can do.

Hope this clarifies some things.

Tom
