Ahem, Falcon. This was not England. Our dogs don't savage German professors and Librarians out for a walk.
"Up to 14 of the animals are thought to have savaged Lotha Schweder and his wife Sherry.
Several of the animals were later found "standing guard" over the badly mutilated couple in rural Lexington, Georgia, and had to be scared away by police firing a gunshot."

I guess the irresponsible owners are equally crass and unpleasant, whichever nationality.
