Hi my wife and I are staying in Madrid for a couple of days, after flying in from Canada, before we begin our Camino experience in late July.
Can anyone tell us about a nice/cheap place to stay (2 star), with good proximity to sight see in Madrid?
Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.
There is a lot of very good budget accommodation in Madrid. My own favorite is the Hostal Bruna, which is very close to the Paseo del Prado and about a 4 minute walk to the museum. It is small, family run, extremely clean and BASIC. http://www.ctv.es/hostalbruna/indexin.htm
It is very near a lively entertainment area, good restaurants, lots of night life, but I've always had a room with an interior window and it's silent at night.
I always try to plug this place when I can because they treated my 24 year old son so very decently about a year ago. The night before his return to the US he was pickpocketed. He didn't realize it till the next morning when he went to pay his bill and head to the airport for his flight home. These guys not only calmed him down and told him not to worry about the bill but to send them the money when he got home, but they also gave him money for his trip to the airport.
I stayed at the Hostal Alaska a couple of years ago. It is clean, comfortable, and centrally located. They were friendly and helpful. http://www.hostalalaska.com/
