The Roll of Honour details the 41 young Australians who died on Active Service in Afghanistan. In the centenary of the ANZAC’s, the Roll of Honour will be escorted to 41 prominent places and events around the World, laying 41 Poppies at each location.
My Camino has taken a turn from loving it to struggling to enjoy the beautiful country and people.
I tore my calf muscle outside of Burgos and have limped my way to Berceanos Del Real Camino.
I can not stop and rest it as I am on a schedule and the thing that is keeping me going is the great encouragement of my fellow pilgrims, most of the crew walking past me as I have to get up earlier each day have been fantastic and I just wanted to say thanks.
I know most people who walk past Burgos have some injury whether small or serious and your health is in my prayers.
I am limping in style though Lol
Cheers Mick the Aussie

Bummer! I had to come home early in April, and will be having my MRI in 12 days, knee not healing.

You really should give the idea of limping along the Camino a second thought as the limping itself may lead to other injuries, especially back, hip, and other bits that are now being used in a way they should not be used.

Ah yes, ANZAC Day. Now I understand..... I have nothing but respect for your commitment and determination to endure the pain and fulfill your mission (if I may call it that). But I also recommend a short break so you can recover. I guarantee you, and I know what what I'm talking about here, that no old soldier or veteran will think less of you or your gesture or effort. Quite the contrary.
I wish you best of luck and a speedy recovery. Hope to see you post a thread with "mission accomplished". Cheers!

You have the right spirit to go on, but like said before, you have to take care, at least get some medical check, go see a physiotherapist for taping.
I've made the same mistakes (probably will do again, bad habbit) to go on, never ever give up...
But sometimes you can get to a point where you simply can't go on when ignoring your body signals
This is a bigger problem then a blister.
Goodluck & Buen Camino ;)

Sorry to hear about your injury. Please take it easy and don't overdo it....

I heard this week of one injured peregrina we walked with last year.... who limped on to the end despite our pleas....(One of us was a doc)
She is very young but her ankle is still not mended :(

Take care and look after yourself.

@Mick McQueen, The options you need may not be pulling out as much as changing your approach slightly to give your body a chance to repair itself. I faced a similar issue on my first camino when I badly twisted my knee just before San Anton. I took a short day that day and stayed in Castrojeriz, and then took care to go more slowly and avoid aggravating the problem any further. I still have issues with that knee from time to time, but never enough to stop me walking, so it wasn't a perfect solution, merely adequate, but I did achieve what was important to me at that time.

You will need wifi for this small films

Wow thanks I am going to have a rest day as one learned pilgrim has suggested but in Mansilla and the Hostelera said his wife would take me to the medical centre for some ultra sound treatment

Hi Mick McQueen....feeling for you at the moment and hoping and praying that your leg will alright - tearing a calf muscle is not a happy event at all.....please take care and, if necessary, just catch a bus for a few days or your leg may get worse.......Hugs from Sue in WA.

UPDATE: I have taken the advice of the learned forum and rested in Leon for two days getting Physio and Doctors advice, I was told by Dr that my Camino was finished but Physio said if I get a me pair of footwear change my pace and gait I could repair it but it would take 15 days of heat and ice and ultra sound, I only went 10km out of Leon and all good, I then went to Hospital de Orbigo and the calf went at the 24 km mark, I have iced and heated it and am now back on the ice and will make it to Astorga tomorrow, thanks for all the encouragement it means a lot, I will be at Santiago de Compostela come hell or high water
