INTERNET ACCESS

Hi

I'm planning to do the camino next year.

I just have a question involving internet access, since I am a blogger. My girlfriend is currently on the camino trail. She is staying in the albergues. Normally I receive an email from her once every 2 to 3 days. However, I have now waited a week and no word from her. I guess I am just worried that something might have happened to her. Should I be? I mean, is there a rational explanation as to why she would have no internet access for an entire week?

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
MCurtiz,

Don't worry. Give her another week.

Imagine yourself walking 20-30 kms a day. When one arrive at the albergue one is already tired. After a hot shower and maybe a siesta, it would be dinner time. Now imagine the same pattern everyday. Especially for someone the first time in the camino, the first week will be preoccupied, with little time for anything else. Once you get past the physical stage, well, maybe could try to see the local library has internet access, that is if one has the knowledge. Else the only obvious internet access for a pilgrim are the internet station at some of the albergue, which is coin operated, expensive...

I also blogged during my camino, but only on my 3rd one. Even then, it's on average every other day. On my first 2 camino, I access the internet only like once a week.

Hope you hear from her soon...

There are villages/albergues with no internet, and she might have struck a 'run' of those. But usually you can expect to have internet access along the Camino fairly regularly, and I think that in Spain my postings were not much more than four days apart. Internet time is often not cheap though- it often cost a Euro for about 15 minutes access- and I know I did minimal e-mailing. She might be economising, or may even have decided that the internet and the Camino do not go together for her...

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Hi

Thanks so much!

In fact, she started the trail on 26 September and expects to reach Santiago on Thursday. I hope to hear from her then, but it relieves me to know that there is a rational explanation as to why she has not sent me any emails since last Sunday. She's a beautiful Korean woman, the love of my life, and she has said only good things about the trip.

Thanks again.

Greetings all. I was scheduled to start in Porto in a few days. Went for a 20 km hike yesterday (my longest thus far) and almost didn’t make it. By the time I got home, I could hardly walk...
I have a confession. I am terrified of - and yes now feel free to laugh - the top bed in bunks with no railing/fence (something to stop you falling out). I've managed to get away with it except...
This is the latest fad for Camino stay out of the wind and woods 🤗.
What are your favorite restaurants, bars, hotels, inns, etc on the Camino Frances NOT in albergues please? Gracias.
Yes, pardon me. So I've just read this cool article about the closing of the Puerta del Perdón in the Monastery of Santo Toribio for the holy year (and it is a very beautiful peurta for sure). It...
