Guys,

I'm excited to announce my ticket is booked for June 2014! Well excited! :)

What I'd like to know is, what's the weather like in June?

Merci,
Sonn

Bonjour Sonn,
Very happy for you.
Can't help with the weather, guess like the Frances it will vary year to year, when I walked June 2009 had sunshine but June 2012 had solid rain.
We (Helen & I) will be walking from Le Puy in April 2014, like you the tickets are booked, and now trying to come to grips with some French.
Bon Chemin

It is going to be warm but not steaming hot. Do expect rain once you cross into galicia.

Buen camino.

I will be between Leon and Santiago in June. In looking at the weather maps and historical data it appears that the weather will be between 50° and 70°F with a 50% chance of rain most any day. However, I have not been there so like most you have to prepare for anything. Buen Camino!

Hello dave,

Welcome to the forum.

I walked last year the camino frances arriving in sdc on the 16th of july. The weather this year was wetter this year than last year. But as you head west into galicia at o'cebreiro, expect to have cooler and rainy weather. Do expect to get wet. However the weather is warmed but not exceedingly hot at this time of year.

Good luck on your planning. Enjoy your camino.

Hi Sonn,

I walked from Le Puy to St Jean last summer, beginning in mid-June. The first week, from Le Puy to Conques, was quite cold. While I generally run hot, I needed a couple of layers to get by. Of course, the locals said winter had essentially extended into May, as the rains were unusually hard and the cold especially persistent. After that cold stretch (with one semi-rainy day), though, the weather was great for walking. No rain, blue skies nearly every day, and rarely uncomfortably warm.

Of course, last June may have little bearing on next June...

Dave

I walked Le Puy to Aumont Aubrac in early 2012 - up to 80° some days, followed by one day of rain. Last year I walked Aumont Aubrac - Figeac commencing 9 June. Overcast the first day, increasingly sunny and warm but never uncomfortable (you're over 1500 m above sea level much of the way) Next year I'll start at Figeac, probably the same time of year - it's a good time to go on the Le Puy route. Bon Chemin!
