Kitchen Facilities on Camino Portugues

Hello,
My husband and I are now in the early stages of making plans to walk the Camino Portuguese from Lisbon to Santiago starting at the end of September 2017. We like to stay in albergues with kitchen facilities allowing us to prepare our own meals, whenever possible. I am wondering if anyone can comment on the availability of albergues with equipped kitchens along this route?

the name "Interior Caminho Português" is misleading. It goes from Coimbra to Verin and Ourense at the east side of Portugal. It never hits Lisbon or Porto so you will get the wrong information.
Your question has to be about the so called CENTRAL route forum.
This is about going from Lisbon to Porto and towards Santiago.

sorry you did well except for the name of your caminho. The one you want to walk is the Central route.
There are albergues on the Lisbon to Porto leg but not that many.
I have been in some but never have seen kitchen facilities but my caminho was 3 years ago. It may have been changed.
The only places where I saw a kitchens was in São Pedro de Rates and Redondela on the leg from Porto to Santiago.
On the Lisbon to Porto leg is the first albergue in Alpriate but I haven't been there. It opened recently but there are forummembers who can tell you about.
Lots of albergues in Portugal are privat albergues. In Spain they are municipal and have more facilities.

I walked from Lisbonne to Santisgo in September-October. I stayed in Alpriate and they have a small kitchen facility. Afterwards, it is mostly pensions and therefore no kitchen facilities, only a few exceptions. After Porto you will find more with little kitchens and in Spain in the Xunta, but no equipment.

The BEST kitchen is in the newest albergue (opened 2015 next to a hotel) in Arcade. So well equipped.
We walked only from Porto and while I do know we cooked quite a bit I don't remember exactly where.
I do know we were told off (and sent outside) for eating in the communal area in O Porino.
Ponte de Lima had a nifty wee kitchen (though we ate out there very inexpensively)
If you have a look at the gronze site there are details about kitchens.

In Porto this most welcoming albergue has a well equiped modern kitchen, with an Aldi grocery store near by:

In Vila do Conde albergue Santa Clara has a tiny kitchen on the top floor.

Albergue Amigos da Montanha, also has a kitchinette I think.

The Juvenil in Ponte de Lima has a kitchen in the basement.

El Nido in Rubiaes has a kitchen, but nowhere to get food.

Villa San Clemente has some sort of kitchinette, but a wonderful restaurant 100 yards away.

And I'm sure there are other easily found on the Ersoki wensite for the rest of the Spanish route.

Santarem hostel has a kitchen (breakfast served there - don't know if it can be used for guest cooking)

Hostel 2300 in Tomar has a kitchen as well.

in Porto I stayed @ Hostel Tattva - provides good kitchen / equipment

O'Porrino has kitchen but zero equipment

Albergue de Peregrinos de Redondela - mini-tini-twinky kitchen

Albergue de Peregrinos de Teo - very simple kitchen

Santiago de Compostela - Seminario Menor - Avda Quiroga Palacios 2a - large kitchen


with all this self-cooking - try to still taste a world famous cuisine! mega yummy!

Many thanks to all for the information regarding kitchen facilities along this route. Such facilities seem more widely available than I had initially thought. This is good news for those of us who like to cook!

I can't recall any albuergues without kitchen facilities.
