Time of past OR future Camino
I am starting Camino on 6/15 2014 - for the first time
Hi – I am getting ready for my first Camino, aiming to start on 6/15 in Sarria.
I would like to fly out of LA on 6/14 in am to get to Madrid next day around 9am so I can catch the connecting train to Sarria at 12.20 pm. If anyone has experience with this connection, how far the airport is from the Madrid Chamarin train station, if approx. 4 hours are enough for airport – train transfer and if it makes sense to purchase the train ticket in advance. I am open to suggestion if there are better ways to get to Sarria. Thank you!

Please see attached Madrid pdf for information about getting from Madrid airport to the train station.

The metro takes about half an hour to get from the airport to Chamartin train station. Chamartin is a good place to wait.

Please see attached Galacia pdf for information about transport options to Sarria.

Options for getting from Madrid to Sarria are limited. Your plan to use the train is sound. The only other viable way is to fly from Madrid to Santiago, then take the bus to Lugo, and another bus to Sarria.

Thank you for all the info - super helpful. If all goes as scheduled, we will make the train connection, spend night in Sarria and the following morning start the Camino. Is taking a cab from the airport to Chamartin an option? I presume it might take bit longer than the subway. Again - big thanks.
