Flight is booked. This Canadian will be landing in Lisboa on the 17th and heading up to Porto shortly after. Anyone else thinking of walking around this time?

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

I have been thinking about doing the Camino Portugese, but have not decided when. I did the Camino Frances in 2010 and it was just great.

From what part of Canada are you from?
Just asking because I have many relatives in Alberta.
best regards from Iceland

Am planning the Portuguese next April but want to miss the Easter break, so will probably start on or shortly after 20 April from Lisbon. My first solo adventure, which is a bit daunting, so I hope to meet up with many of you en route.

I'll be leaving from Porto just about the same time, steinhoj. I haven't bought the plane tickets, yet, so I don't have the exact date.

Yesterday I've booked my flight to Porto on the 25th of April 2014. Thus starting the 26th and avoiding the Easter weekend.
It seems the cheap tickets on flights are filling up now.
My idea is to head for the Coastal Portuguese route.

Anyone with the same schedule or joining from the Lisbon route?

Looks like some of us might be able to meet up! I'm from Windsor, Ontario, but live in Banff, Alberta currently. Definitely taking the coastal route.

Two diaries on my web site may be of interest - Porto to Santiago 2011 and Lisbon to Porto 2013.
April can be the rainy month so take rain wear.
I loved these two caminos and would happily do them again!
Bom caminho!

Arrive in Porto 18th April (from Toronto) with my son....we will start to walk on the 19th...... Looking forward to it.

The 9th edition the Lightfoot Guide will let you complete the journey your way.
This is the exact time we walked last year - late April, early May. It was amazing! An experience of a life time! I think of our camino everyday. Bom Caminho!!

Arriving in Porto on the 16 April starting the Camino on the 20th. Stoping at Barcelos, Ponte Di Lima and Pontevedra each for a day to look around. Hope to meet some of you along the way.

I am so jealous. I am hoping to walk Porto to SdC just after Easter. However I have to wait until mid February for a retinal specialist appointment so unable to make my plans until after my assessment.

I'm just behind you. I plan to land May 10 be starting from Porto, May 11. I'm coming from Calgary, AB. I'm still working out the details to get back .... Not sure if I should bus it to Madrid, maybe Ryanair somewhere or another option. All the flights I see from SCQ go through Istanbul and are 32 hours back

Hello!
It looks like the majority of you are all starting around mid/late April. Is anyone starting around early April?
I was planning on starting the first week of April and was wondering if anyone else was as I am walking it alone and
it would be nice to see some people on the route:)
I'm from Vancouver Island, BC

Saluti -
intending to fly to Lisboa last week of April (starting in SFO) and aim to be in Santiago by the time of Pentecoste. Not certain where I will be starting the Caminho. Perhaps before Tomar sometimes in early May? Trying to avoid the busy roads out of Lisboa - and generally taking it slow. Wondering about the KM distances between accommodations. Really looking forward to this Pilgrimage - and seems like I'd better get a ticket presto ... Ci vediamo!

Hi tmlsholt, this question comes up quite a lot but I guess the answers are always buried inside other threads!
People on the forum have recommended Dixo's, Paulisto, the Yes! hostel and the Poet's hostel. I stayed in a private room at the Poet's and thought it was wonderful. Evidently Poet's is just private rooms now.

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc

For all. At this great forum you can find all the answers a.o. places to sleep, how to cope with the distance between Alverca and Azambuja. Hostals, albergues etc.
Please take some time to read primer threads It gives some fun to read them all and you'll learn about it and find all

Hi there Steinhoj, I leave Antwerp on 16th April and will start walking on 18th because I want to see some of Porto at first. I will be staying at the Porto Lounge Hostel and Guesthouse. We will very likely meet along the way. So see you on the camino. Buen Camino, Gerda

peregrin0 tom, on Poets in Porto -- A few days ago I made a reservation there. They have two places, the Inn and the Privates, and one seems to be around the corner from the other. I was confused and first contacted the Inn asking if they had a single room. They said no, but booked me into a double. I then realized I could get a single a little more cheaply at the Privates, so changed my reservation. I'll be there for Easter, sounds like other folks will be around about then. Hope I run into them!

I was all over the place trying to get to Porto - had to bail and take diff approach... but I'm on my way! Will be in Ponte de Lima on the 21st. Hope to see y'all out there! Buen Camino!

Due to unexpected delays (having way too much fun in Lisboa) I'm starting the camino tomorrow. See some of you on the trail! As for accom: I must recommend Porto Alive hostel. 10eur inc. Breakfast and actually on the camino too. Also brand new kitchen and with very friendly english speaking staff. Can't recommend it enough.

Bom dia dear pilgrims, I plan on returning to Portugal this summer, after walking the Salvador + Primitivo. I have a few questions: - What is the easiest way to get from SdC to Coimbra? I assume...
My final question since I have asked sooo many. Grabbing a light lunch that I can get on the go, hoping to grab it, and find a square or a bench to enjoy it, then get back to walking. Not really...
We are flying into Lisbon, then taking a train to Tomar for a couple nights, which looks pretty easy. What is less clear is the best way from Tomar to Porto. Have you done this? What do you...
Hello everyone! My wife and I are doing our first Camino in Sept and I was very curious about the stretch from Tui to Pontevedra. We have been to Spain multiple times and love the small towns...
Dear all, I have done Camino Frances, Norte and Primitivo and would like to ask about Portuges. I have some soul-searching to do and would love to walk a part of it, unfortunately only a part...
