Hello. My name is Claudine and I will be walking from Porto to Santiago at the end of April to mid May. Is anyone going to be on the Camino Portuguese around that time? Any advise to give? Thank you.

Hi Claudine

I just finsihed my camino portuguese today and I've had a great time. The weathers' been great with only one day of rain. I only walked a short part of if (from Tui to Santiago) so I cannot speak of the Portuguese part of the way. The albergues have been great and they are more modern and cleaner than on the Camino Frances. However the albergue in Caldas de Reis is closed permanently. I got a good room at the Hotel Lotus for 25 euros. Therer was a big portuguese group (scouts) that got help from the church to get acommodation. But they had to wait for a long time and I've heard that they only help larger groups. The walk is very pleasant and not very hard. The locals along the way are also very friendly and helpful. I'm sure you'll have a great time!
Best wishes
Freddie from Sweden.

I may be walking that route in August (I did the Camino Frances from St. Jean to Santiago last summer). I hope you'll come back here after your trek and fill us in on your experience - buen Camino!

Hello Claudine:

Very eager to hear your experience on the Camino Portuguese. I am leaving May 22 to do the Tui to Santiago route.
