Leaving the Aragonese way for Pamplona+Northern Route

Hello/Ola/Bonjour,

My father and I will start our Camino in Auch and from the Arles way to the Aragonese way but we want to do the northern way and our unsure of how to reach it from the Aragonese way - ? Any advice?

Also, from Auch do you just follow GR 65 to Somport? Which IGN Maps will dover from Auch to Somport? Do we need maps - and if so, what maps are recommended in Spain?

Sorry for the questions, it's our first Camino and I'm in charge or organizing logistics :)

Hello!
Do not know about walking to the North route but if you end the aragonway in Puente la Reina you can take a bus to San Sebastian and Irun. There are buses at 11 and 17 and also possibilities via Pamplona. See http://autobusesdenavarra.com. I will end up in Puente la Reina in early June and and go back to Toulouse via San Sebastian and Hendaye.

hello!

you have several options from via tolosana to camino frances:

1. leaving via tolosana in oloron and going to via podiensis in navarrenx then from there to SJPP via aroue and ostabat (should be well waymarked)
2. leaving via tolosana in oloron and going W on via piemont via mauloen and st just ibarre to SJPP (should be well waymarked)
3. leaving via tolosana in borce and going W on GR10 via lescun, arrete st pierre, chalets d'iraty to SJPP (should be well waymarked)
4. leaving camino aragones in any village between monreal and tiebas and somehow making your way to pamplona to connect with camino frances and going backwards to SJPP (not waymarked as far as I know altough GR21 ruta ignaciana should run somewhere here)
5. leaving camino aragones in yarnoz, connecting with GR220 vuelta a la cuenca de pamplona on the top of the mountain above cemborain then following it N to ardanatz and from there make your way to huarte or pamplona on camino frances and backtrack to SJPP (GR220 should be waymarked)
6. completing all of camino aragones to obanos or puente la reina and following camino frances backwards via pamplona to SJPP (well waymarked)

from SJPP the best option to connect with camino norte is GR10 via st etienne bigorry, bidarray, ainhoa to hendaye, camino norte starts just over the border in irun. http://www.aucoeurduchemin.org/spip/-St-Jean-Pied-de-Port-Irun-.html

for via tolosana, camino aragones, camino frances and via piemont I think you don't need any maps. the waymarking is good. I know the first three from personal experience, but not (yet) via piemont. I don't know for GR10 but I presume the waymarking is at least good enough, although it passes through more isolated mountain areas.

also check posts on this forum under camino aragones, via arles, via piemont.

good luck with choosing!

You walk Aragones to Puente la Reina. Then follow Frances to Santo Domingo. Then walk Camino Vasco backwards to Irun ( STO Domingo - Haro - La Puenta de Arganzon - Vitoria - Salvatierra - Zegama - Beasain - Tolosa - Hernani - Irun). I will take about 8 days.
