Leon to Santander or Bilbao?

What is the quickest way of getting from Leon to Santander?
I had a look at a bus time table and it can take up to five hours?
Would we be better flying out of Bilbao?

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

€149,-
Hi Fermanagh,

Have you considered a hire car? About 2.75 hours to drive between the two. Just got sample quote for 1st June which was £45 (+ fuel) for basic car, pick up Leon Downtown and drop off Santander airport. Price pretty comparable to the bus if more than one of you travelling.

I've done one day car hire on a couple of occasions when a group of us have been travelling and it worked out cheaper and quicker than public transport.

Just a thought. Hope you manage to find a solution.

Regards
Mig

I am going from Santander to Leon from where I will start my Camino. I gave up trying to figure who buses and trains and just rented a car with eurocar from Santander Airport to Leon Airport. 59 euros for the 3 hour trip.

than you for all your help. I'm nervous about driving on the 'other side' of the road!
I think best option for us is to get a train from Leon to Madrid, it appears to take less than three hours and to fly back to Dublin from Madrid.

I cannot contemplate driving on the wrong side of the road so I took the bus back from Ponferrada to Bilbao two days ago. 6 and quarter hours. The length of the journey was not the issue; I left at 2.15am so I would not have to hang around Bilbao all day. But the bus was fine.

My companion had to leave from León to Bilbao and found the 5 hour bus trip to be ok.

You can get by train from León to both Bilbao and Santander, I just think it is a case of what is the best option in terms of fares for your flight.
