DanOnTheCamino,
You and your daughter must be very excited today! Your's is a lovely route. December 2011 I walked alone from Santiago to Tui/Valenca backwards down that camino. Walking through the old fortress at Valença and crossing the famous international bridge were very special.

Stay safe and Buen camino to both of you!

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Thanks. We’re waiting at the new (since I was last here in 2022) bus station in Santiago for the bus. It’s a really nice bus station and improvement over the old one.
I hiked the Portugues from Porto in 2019, and I enjoyed the evening prayers at the monastery. We’re also going to try to stay with the Franciscans in Herbon (outside Padron). I’ll try to keep this thread updated over the next week.B4ECEF44-DD1A-4C3E-AE32-02420F40F8F7.jpeg

This is one of my top camino wish list items! Last year the albergue in Herbón was only open from April 1 onward. I know that has been true in other years as well, so it’s likely to be the same this year. But it would be worth trying to get 2023-specific info. I saw this phone number on the AGACS website. 881098102

Good luck and buen camino!

I did the same route last July, I am sure you will enjoy it immensely.
I recommend staying at the Mosteiro de Santa María da Armenteira.
Don't forget to have your credencial stamped in Valença before crossing the bridge.
Can I get camino credencial passport somewhere in Valenca?

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.

Is the new bus station near the old one? Also appreciate if you could let me know did you get your credentials in Santiago?

We’re on our way to Valença, Portugal to begin a short Camino (including Spiritual Variant) tomorrow for school holiday. It’s my daughter’s first Camino experience!
Walking with your favorite girl what could be better than that!

Thanks for the info. I stayed here in October 2019 - will post here once I know about whether or not it is open this week.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
I will look forward to reading about your journey along the way. All the best for a wonderful Camino experience shared with your daughter!

We got “shelled” today - in a good way. One of the coolest thing on any of my Camino journeys. On the way to Redondela, a man who drove by us, stopped his car, got out, and asked if he could give us something. He unwrapped his paper towel packages and gave each of us a scallop shell as he wished us “a good way”

There was definitely something special about that bridge! I have always remembered it.

For sure a great experience! Will walk the CP (da costa), starting somewhere close to the Spanish border, with my 15 y/o son - starting on April, 13th. It will be also his first camino!

We tried phoning the past two days, yet had no answer. So we decided to walk by this morning after the boat ride from V.de Arousa and take a chance. They are still closed. Here’s a photo of the sign on the door. E903A101-E243-410C-A497-D7D9180B4FC7.jpeg

I would like to walk the river route in Tui next month. I can see on google maps exactly where it starts, but it seems a bit overgrown. Has anybody used this route this year or last year...
Hello, my friend of 50+ years and I are on our first Camino walk. We are looking for: 1) safe, comfortable hostels in Lisbon; 2) stages from Lisbon to Porto (via Tomar) in about 16 days...
Hi I have searched everywhere to see if there is a luggage service from Lisbon to Porto. I know there is from Porto to Santiago, but Lisbon ???. Thanks for any info.
