Lodging options in Burguete

NB Kevin

Member
We hope to stay overnight in Burguete our first night in Spain. Can anyone recommend lodging options that they were happy with there?

We were intrigued with the idea of trying the Hostal Burguete, which I believe is where Hemingway stayed for a while. Does anyone have experience with that place, or with other Hostals or Fondas that they were happy with in Burguete?

Burguete

Hola Kevin,
I have not stayed in Burguete but I think this is the hotel you are looking for: (From the John Brieley Guide)
Burguete Hotel ** - Still has a piano bearing Hemingway's signature 25/7/1923. Tel: 948 760 005 Described as " ... maybe the sole remaining vestige of unspoiled Hemingway lore left on this earth!"

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Thanks, Sil & Javier!

I saw the reference in Brierly, but was unable to find contact information. From the link cited by Javier, I was happy to be able to send an e-mail requesting a room for the 23rd.
We hope to stay there that night and then rush the next day (but TOO fast) to try to overtake Sil within a few days and meet her face-to-face.

Muchas gracias,

Don't rush!!

Hey Kevin, we only leave Roncesvalles on the 23rd August so you will have to slow down if we are going to catch up with you and Peg.
I did a weather check yesterday and it was 22oC in Roncesvalles and for Pamplona, the 5 day forecast was 26oC - 31oC - 29oC - 33oC. No rain forecast for the next 5 days. Hope it holds!

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
Sil, thanks for the weather update, and for the link to the Grant Spangler site. It's really good!

I "think" I'm now booked at the Hostal Burguete, using my "village idiot" level of Spanish to communicate with the staff. I'm looking forward to practicing and improving my language (and other) skills on the camino.

Let the adventure begin!
See you on the way.

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
