Logrono to SAntiago in 21 days?

Hi there,

Starting out in Logrono at the start of May, do you think we can realistically make it to Santiago in 21 days? We're reasonably young and healthy but not marathon runner by any means!

Any advice on an itinarary/where to stay? We have a tent and would be happy to camp in the wild (if allowed!) if it would make things easier or otherwise plan to stay in the Aulbergues along the way where that is cheaper than the campsites/pouring with rain.

Any advice is most welcome!

Hi,

Well, you could make it to SDC if you pushed yourself. At a steady pace it's an average of 25 days from Logrono to SDC. Should you find yourself running short of time, you can skip the Meseta, or another stretch, but remember...you MUST walk the final 100km into SDC. This means that you need to leave from Sarria to receive the Compostella. As to camping, you will find that often a tent site is equal to more expensive that the 3E at most municipal albergues.

Buen Camino,

Arn

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
In my opinion, you could JUST make it, but 21 days doesn't give any chance if things "go wrong". This could be anything from the usual leg and foot problems, to days with a lot of rain. We decided to stop twice last year after only 12/13 kms, due to pouring rain and the fact that the next albergue was too far away for a comfortable walk. On the other hand if you are young and fit and determined to get there on schedule, you should be able to do it! A lot depends on circumstances (favourable or adverse)!
