long distances on Camino del Norte

We have just returned from Bayonne and intend to continue on the Northern Route at the end of September. I am concerned about some of the long distances on this route and wonder if it is any way to reduce them . I understand that there might be an issue on this route as far as accommodation is concerned. Any up to date information would be very appreciated.
(I not sure how to post, so sorry if I'm in the wrong place)

Folks who've walked the Camino Frances (where there's accommodation options no more than 12km apart) sometimes ask this question when considering the Norte. But as you've already walked from Konstance to Bayonne I imagine your idea of a long stage might be, well, longer...!
So I suggest you tell us what you think of as a long stage and we'll apply that to the Norte.
In the meantime many people start their planning by having a look at Gronze.

And also recommended is the Wise Pilgrim guide which is more detailed. It is available as hardback, as is the Whitson/Perazzoli guide (which I found very helpful a few years ago) and that's available as an ebook too.

Thanks Tom, yes, we found ourselves walking 32kms recently but at 70 , I'd rather not be caught out too often doing that! 20 - 25 is quite enough for one day.

I'm doing the Norte in August and my preference is 20km days, which was easy to do on the CF last September. I'm finding I'm having to settle for an average of 22kms in my planning for the Norte as there is less infrastructure. My longest day, currently, will be just under 30kms.

So, I reckon you will be fine.

I'm using the Wise Pilgrim app and book, and also the Buen Camino app to plan my stages.

Please note that Fall brings the surfers to the north coast and they tend to overwhelm the less-expensive lodging options. So while there MAY be listed options to make for shorter walking days, you might find the non-“pilgrim only” albergues/gites full. Reserve ahead, if possible, or plan for a higher per/night cost for accommodations.

Not just the Fall. Most of the summer too. That was the case when I walked the Norte in July 2018.
