Lyon Accommodations

Hello Everyone,
I am traveling to Lyon in late September, on my way to Le Puy. Does anyone have a favorite place to stay? Preferably, under $100 US. I love B&B's and buildings with some character also. Aside from that- I am just very happy to be planning another camino!
Any must do's, while in town, are also appreciated.

Regarding Lyon must do’s - strolling around the fabulous old town - and this … Les Halles de Lyon.

Calling it an indoor food market does not do it justice.

I always stay at the Centre Jean Bosco. High up on the hill , so good training. https://www.centrejeanbosco.com/

And if you want to carbo load with noodles made in front of you go to Les Pâtes Vivantes de Lyon.

Last I time was there I took a Hop On Off bus. It was worth it to see some the areas I had missed previously.

I used to travel to Lyon regularly for work, then I'd take the train to Paris. People would ask about what I was doing and where I'd been and when I told them I'd been in Lyon the response was always the same "Ah Lyon, you will have eaten SO well."

Whatever anyone else may say, Lyon is THE gastronomic capital of France; I never had a bad meal there and some where truly memorable. You have time on your side to get online and do some research and to save up for a great dinner to start your adventure. Oh, and the view (on a clear day) from the top of the Fourvière hill is splendid and you can very occasionally see Mont Blanc to the east.

We stayed at the Away Hostel, short walk from the train station and city centre. Really enjoyed the free (donation) guided walk around the old town then took the funicular up to the Roman ruins and on to the cathedral at the top - amazing. Bon Chemin
