LYON CHEAP LODGING NEAR LE PUY TRAIN

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
We stayed at "Hotel Premier Classe", 75 Boulevard Marius Vivier Merle, this time last year. Small rooms with bunk beds, own bathroom, clean & well managed, reasonably cheap & included breakfast. It backs onto railway line but train noise was not a problem. Less than 5 minutes walk from railway station which is on same street. OK for one or two nights.

thanks for all your help. found a cheap one on line....booking.com. will have to do! what i am wondering now is do i need to make a reservation on the le puy train? there is only one direct one each day and if i do need to make a reservation where do i go to make it and if i miss it do i get a refund? christina

You don't have to reserve a seat. Buy your ticket at Lyon Part Dieu station. Refunds depend on the fare structure-the cheaper tickets can't be refunded after departure. However, there are a number of trains during the day so you shouldn't worry about missing one. You will have to change trains at St Etienne Chateaucreux where you may have to go to another platform. There is not too long between trains, so you can't dawdle.
The scenery between St Etienne & le Puy is beautiful.
have a good trip.
