Hola!

I plan to arrive in Madrid in the early morning of March 1st. From there, I would take a train or bus ( whichever is most convenient ) to Pamplona. Thoughts, suggestions and/or recommendations? Thank you in advance!

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
I'm doing the same mid-February. I'm landing in Madrid, staying at a hostel to recover from jet lag and be a pilgrim-tourist, then I'll take a Renfe train from Atocha station to Pamplona. I tend to get motion sick on buses, I love trains...so it's an easy choice for me.

Very light, comfortable and compressible poncho. Specially designed for protection against water for any activity.

Our Atmospheric H30 poncho offers lightness and waterproofness. Easily compressible and made with our Waterproof fabric, its heat-sealed interior seams guarantee its waterproofness. Includes carrying bag.

If you fly on Iberia airlines, you can book your ticket directly to Pamplona. This usually requires changing planes in Madrid.

I don’t know how early your flight lands in Madrid; however, Iberia has a 9:10 AM flight from Madrid to Pamplona. There is also a 12:25 PM. The 9:10 for March 1 one way is showing $32 on Kayak. I have taken the bus from Barajas to Pamplona once, the train from Atocha twice, and also flown from Barajas to Pamplona. To me, flying is the easiest, and sometimes the cheapest.

I agree about flying. I fly Iberia often to Madrid for my caminos but if I am going to a different destination like San Sebastian or Pamplona I book the whole trip on one ticket. If something happens with your flight to Madrid and you book a separate ticket and miss your flight, well you are just screwed and need to pay for another flight.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
If you can, book a connecting flight to Pamplona. It’s cheaper and quicker and more relaxing. We always did that!
