If one discovers the hiking poles, or the waterproof boots, or something else is too heavy... is there a possibility of mailing that gear ahead to Santiago for retrieval?

How would that work?

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Go to any post office (Correos). They have new services for pilgrims, including one that allos you to mail things ahead for longer periods of time than regular "correo de lista".

Look up the details at correos.es. I think the service is calle Peregrino pac.

Transport luggage-passengers.

Ok, I'm looking online. I'm not sure of what I'm reading. The Pac Peregrino offered by the Correo offers two weeks of storage for free, then €1 per day after. The Correo would hold a package at Santiago, or any post office, for the duration of your walk, or until you pick it up.

Is that your understanding?

Be careful that the post office closes Saturday noon to Monday morning. It's very hard to get into town, check into accommodation, pick up a parcel and be at Pilgrim Mass at noon. If you think you will arrive during that time, use Ivar, he opens for an hour or two on Sundays by arrangement.
