Mailing extra bagage from Madrid to Santiago

Time of past OR future Camino
June 2015
Has anyone mailing their extra baggage from Madrid to Santiago? If you have, how did you do it, how much did it cost and how long did it take the baggage to get to Santiago? Our plans are to mail our extra baggage ahead (Madrid to Santiago) and take a bus or train to Sarria, start our pilgrimage. After we walk to Santiago (6-7 days), pick up the baggage we mailed and continue our vacation of Spain.

Any help, information or suggestions would be great.

Hi.

I highly recommend Ivar's service mentioned by Falcon above. I sent stuff from NZ and from the Camino to him. Amazingly the box I sent from NZ arrived quicker than the one I sent from St Jean Pied de Port.

You can send your items from the Correos (post office) in Madrid.
They have various boxes available to purchase at the counters. Then its just a matter of addressing it.

It will make it to Santiago in about 3-5 working days.

Cost depends on weight: I sent various items ahead to Ivar and other Post Office as I walked and the prices varied around €10-20.00.
Thanks for the info Lise. I was planning to use Ivar's service. This info helps help's out a lot.
