making my own bed bug sheet...

would like to go on camino del norte!
Hi all,

I bought a bed bug sheet online 25 days ago from abroad and it hasn't been delivered yet. Since i'm leaving in 3 days, I think I should start considering alternatives.

I have a bottle of permethrin already, I just don't know what piece of hiking/camping equipment could replace this sheet. It doesn't seem to appear on the decathlon website, for instance. Or perhaps I just don't know some key words.

Any ideas?

Thanks!!

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

You might visit a fabric store and get a length of super-lightweight fabric to spray - another contributor did this. Or visit a super-discount place and buy a very large, lightweight scarf. I was going to spray a sleeping bag liner and take that, but it adds extra weight moreso than lightweight fabric would, so am considering taking a very lightweight, large scarf, sprayed. Then again I may just spray the outside of my lightweight sleeping bag. Maybe your sheet will show up?

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
European single beds are typically 90x180 cm. Go buy piece of tule at your local sewing store, maybe 180x 270 cm so you can tuck it under the mattress and spray it outdoors and leave it to dry.oddly enough tule is much bulkiermthan you could think but super light. I shove mine is an old microtowel bed that I have. 15$ or so will have you covered. Good luck!

I used muslin+Permethrin to make a light single sheet.
It was still quite heavy.
Next time I'll investigate another suggestion.
To use bridal veil material.

I used the most lightweight yet large paro/sarong I could find (117g) and sprayed it. Wild purple and magenta. When I'd get to my bed, I'd lay it on the top sheet to both scare away the bugs and to mark my space. I have since found even lighter large scarf/sarongs (approx 72" x 40") on Amazon that are coming out of China. One weighs 77g and the other 83g.

Does it stay on the bed? I move too much so I need something well tucked in. I was asked if I was planning on getting married en route since my mattress cover looked like a veil ;0)

In the end I bought a cotton sheer curtain. I hope it won't be too small... it's 240x140. Not so cheap (18 euros), but I'm short on time.
Thank you guys!

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Good advice but no option because too expensive with our weak Euro...
Have you met the new and impoverished Canadian dollar? 76 cents to the US$. ;0) What about having a forum friend make one for you from a piece of tulle and send it to you?

I could not find pyrethrum anywhere in Spain which was a real surprise considering its low toxicity compared to Deet which is freely available. I assume it is a cost issue.

Hi Kanga, pyrethrum powdered Chrysanthemum root is not available (as an agricultural product) in Europe because it has not been subjected to EU prescribed testing. Most herbalist stock it though it would be un-lawful to sell it to you as an insecticide. Permethrin, Permetrina in Spain, is readily available through-out Europe as a licensed insecticide.
