Maps and Buttons

Does any one know where I can buy a very nice map of the Camino Frances where the towns are very clearly marked and I would need one about 2 m in length. I also would like to know if each town that one walks through, do they have buttons that one can buy of that town to have as a keep sake so that one can pin them on your jacket.
And an idea on prices as I have to convert money from rands to euros.

Hello,

There was a thread started in January, "Wall Maps of the Camino Frances" which I came across the other day. I think that thread will be useful for you.

I have a map as you describe which I purchased at a book store there in SdC. I love it! I am sorry I can not remember the name of the place, but it really isn't hard to find as it's close by the cathedral.

There were some buttons I saw along the way as well, but I don't recall any really specific to every town/villiage.

What a fun scavenger hunt while walking.

Thank you @mralisn , when I get to SdC I'll have a look around. this is going to be an awesome journey for me as I'm doing it for two reasons, one is personal and the other is to raise as much money as I can for a children's hospital here in Cape Town South Africa.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Val,

Welcome to the Forum!

I am certain that you will find much helpful information here as you plan your Camino. Past pilgrims who are Forum members are always eager to share their experiences and advice.

As mralisn suggests above for information on a good wall map of the camino check what other pilgrims have suggested in this Forum thread >> http://www.caminodesantiago.me/community/threads/wall-map-of-camino-frances.16444/#post-154595

Some larger towns along the way do have buttons in their souvenir shops, but not all. However the various sellos or stamps offered along the way provide great camino momentos . All pilgrims carry a pass or Credencial del Peregrino. Stamped each night the pass provides proof of your trip when you arrive at Santiago. Any place along the way can stamp your Credential. Bars, restaurants, pilgrim albergues, etc. are used to this. Just ask! Most such stamps are very decorative and some even hand drawn by the hospitalero. At the end of their journey some pilgrims have these handsome momentos framed for display. See >> http://www.caminodesantiago.me/community/threads/framing-credential.20142/

Happy planning and Buen Camino,

Margaret Meredith
