Masks, Masks, and Good Covid Hygeine

Time of past OR future Camino
2021
I flew into Madrid, hopped a bus to Leon, and am one day into Salvador. Being from Maine, USA I am totally impressed by how serious Spaniards are taking the pandemic. Even when walking in the early morning in Leon, I found the vast majority of people masked outdoors walking if they were approaching. Everyone has a mask on their person. On my bus, which was full, everyone was quiet, masked, and taking our close proximity seriously. Of course it might be very different elsewhere here. Just wanted to give a big cudos to the folks in Spain. So glad I am doing a Camino this year and did not put it off.

Yes, hooray !! -- fantastic !!

It's a special year for one.

But you will find that masking and so on varies greatly from pueblo to pueblo.

This was a repeated subject of conversation during my recent SJPP to Burgos (via Barcelona and Pamplona) camino. It's a shock to be back here in the UK, where in many settings you look out of place if you wear one. I found it immensely reassuring, that the matter is being treated with such respect and consideration for others in Spain. Conversely, I felt embarrassed by the behaviour of fellow Brits in Barcelona airport in both directions (Spanish people repeatedly having to tell them how to wear a mask, or simply that they needed to put one on, and British people being prickly about it). I miss Spain and it hasn't even been a week!

This is so good to know, especially after reading a post from someone who is not vaccinated. Made me nervous about but we are in a situation where time is of the essence where bucket list items are concerned. I am grateful for your post as it has eased my mind. I try not to be paranoid but I am mindful that my husband is a bit more vulnerable than some others may be.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
