Whatever your opinion about the commercialization of all things Camino, this is yet another example of how modern culture meets historic center.

I would put this in the same category as the "Camino Race." Not clear to me where this will lead, but it does suggest that the forces are stronger than we might imagine.
Yep indeed!! Saw the filming live yesterday...lots of lights and cameras etc etc..

"los concursantes prepararon en plena plaza del Obradoiro un menú muy gallego que degustaron ochenta comensales, entre los que estaban una treintena de peregrinos que acababan de llegar a Santiago."

At least they fed a few pilgrims ...

Pilgrims arriving in Obradeiro, some having walked thousands of kilometres, were doubtless honoured to be unpaid extras in a television program. So much more of an achievement than all that walking!

Indeed I had to come by bus due to injury but yes some pilgrims looking rather dissapointed because they could not cross the plaza diagonally because of the fences.
So I helped two pilgrims make a detour to the pilgrim's office.

The Way, as a pilgrimage, is fast becoming a side-show to commercial interests. Or, in this case, a backdrop.
