Delighted to have started the CP from Porto today with a short walk. So different walking by the ocean and gorgeous beaches, and such a novelty to head for a swim after checking in. Debating whether to continue along the Coastal or head to the Central at Rates. Is anyone a day or two ahead on the Coastal and can update how busy/quiet it is please?

Haven’t met many peregrinos yet…this is a very touristy area.

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
By and large, if you want to encounter more pilgrims head over to the Central route. If not, follow the shoreline north further. You can always cross over further north and enjoy more gorgeous coastline and less pilgrim encounters in the meantime.

We just returned from the Portuguese Coastal and it is nicer to walk the official Coastal route as the Senda Littoral literally passes everything and has not much of a Camino Vibe. The official route is not well marked and as we were doing business along the way the conversation we had many times was the area is more aligned with the coastal family holiday makers than Pilgrims, although we were not staying in Albergues. The Variante Espiritual was lovely and the best part. I have walked the Central and definitely more aligned with Pilgrimage and definitely more interesting.

Thank you @JennLyons for reply. I am enjoying the Senda Littoral so far and there are quite a few perigrinos on it since leaving Malosinhos. Next dilemma is which route to choose after Caminha! I do love a post-walk swim/paddle.
