We are doing the Camino Portugues Coastal from Porto in Sept 2016, on a budget. Do restaurants have the "pereginos special" at night?

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Hi there

Doing the same walk under the same circumstances and look forward to seeing the replies. Any suggestions for Aberques and budget accommodation, as well as budget eating options will be most welcome.

Buen Camino

Hi yes in my experience alot of bars and restaurants have special pilgrim menus now, this has increased recently. There's also no harm in asking as they are used to serving the set price menus especially at lunchtime. Luis Freixo has excellent maps which highlight all the good pilgrim places you can eat see for example http://www.caminador.es/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/INFORMACION-DE-BAIONA.pdf

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.

Olá , I do the caminho every year and yes, the numbers of bars and restaurants offering pilgrim´s menu or ~ menu del dia ~are increasing. In Portugal I often had a menu for 5 €, including soup, bread, wine, a main course (fish or meat) and coffee. Well, in Spain it´s a bit more expensive. Cafe con leche, called ~galão~ in Portugal : Portugal 70 - 80 cent, Spain 1 € - 1.10 € and so on.

Therefore have a look at the blackboards , they write down what they offer and what´s the price.

Bom caminho e bom apetite, Rainer
