Meeting Ivar

Kiwi-family

{Rachael, the Mama of the family}
Time of past OR future Camino
walking every day for the rest of my life
Before I leave the Camino.....I had the pleasure of meeting Ivar today! He was totally not what I expected (for some reason I had imagined him as a short rotund Spaniard with an unusual (forSpain) name!
We had a lovely chat ( did pretty well for two introverts!) and what I would like to impress on everyone who has not met him, is he is a man of integrity. In this day and age, that is rare - and precious. We might only have talked for half an hour, but I left with the feeling you could trust him with your life.
Thanks for overseeing this community @ivar

ohh.. that was a nice thing to say!

Good to meet you as well... safe travels back home to summer (here it is still cold!).
Ivar

And in June of last year I happily recognized him pushing his young son in a stroller near the Cathedral. It gave me the opportunity to thank him for all his contributions to us pilgrims.

This past year I left my Saint James medal hanging in the shower at Albergue Lemos in Triacastela. They were kind enough to mail it to Ivar and he then mailed it to me at home in the states. Of course I met Ivar to discuss all of this and his kindness, understanding, and patience is beyond compare. He is a treasure of the Camino.

I too have made a point to meet, shake hands with, and thank Ivar for his attention to so many details. I felt like I was dealing with an old friend, who I had finally met. He does this on a daily basis for all of us who endeavour hiking in Spain, for whatever our intentions, or motivations. This Forum, the forum devotees, Casa Ivar, and you Ivar, have changed and improved the lives of thousands. Thank you for helping make the Camino experience possible.

I met Ivar & his tiny baby son last year when I went there especially to buy some Camino buffs. A friendly man cuddling his son & helping me at the same time. So cool to meet him!

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!
I have not met Ivar, but I admire what he does here. Many would be happy to end the pilgrimage by saying hello to him in Santiago. He would be overwhelmed. We would force him to greet in Santiago only the most active members of this great forum. Maybe an extra stimulus to boost participation!!
Just kidding ;) Thanks Ivar! :)

and.... I did not meet Ivar, but spoke to him from Oviedo as he provided significant help to us after my wife fell and broke her arm on the Primitivo. He helped arrange a box to get sent back home for us that we had shipped ahead to Santiago! Great great guy! Yes, Thanks Ivar! :)

I have not had the fortune to meet him yet, however, he has been unbelievably helpful in all email communications and requests. I have appreciated him enormously.
