Greetings to all members of the forum, may you have a peaceful Christmas and happy walking (or planning thinking about) your Camino in 2016!

Thank you to all who provided advice on appropriate footwear, backpacks, routes, practical footcare, setting realistic walking goals, weather updates. You helped me overcome anxieties, buy the right equipment and enabled me to understand there is no right way to walk the Camino, or as another member of the forum said 'Let Go, Let God'.

As this is the closing days of Advent I wanted to share gift of music with those who appreciate Catholic liturgical music. I only discovered the Scottish composer James MacMillan's Advent Antiphon this week, but cannot stop playing it. It is a deeply spiritual piece of music by a deeply spiritual composer. You can sample the recording by Capella Nova on Amazon digital music (if you can swallow their tax arrangements for the UK).

Peace to all and long may we learn from walking the Way.

I second the James MacMillan recommendation. I love choral music, and he is becoming one of my favorites.

May you have a very merry (or happy if of more English persuasion) Christmas!

ZEB, I tried two search engines for an Amazon search for this pieces of music. I used each word you suggested. Is there another 'magical' word I could use to find it?

Hi @movinmaggie ,

I was curious too, so browsed around for awhile. I'll tell you what I think I've learned, but this might be terribly obvious to someone else, or it could be wrong!

Since James MacMillan is the composer, the searches for his music turn up copies of the scores, not performances. For example here:
So, to buy recordings of his music you probably need to search the performers' names. The first link above has links to "Purchase the CD or download from Linn Records http://www.linnrecords.com

You can find a selection for purchase here:

I hope this helps.

Hi C clearly; thank you so much for going to that effort. His post did give the name 'Capela Nova' so I assume that might be the artist, although nothing came up. I will check all these links, especially the one that indicates 'Antiphon' together with James MacMillan's name. Much appreciated...

A happy Christmas to you all! When i was planning my 2015 pilgrimage from Geneva you all helped me so much, in fact it is true to say I would not of been so adventurous to do it without your wonderful advice and encouragement. In the end I got carried away and walked over 3000 kilometers. All your advice was perfect (even if it was contradictory ha!). Thank you, all of you, including Ivar for putting up with us all!

And now I'm an addict planning my 2016 pilgrimage. Planning on walking for 12 months on various routes. You all have a lot to answer for! I hope to meet some of you on The Way.

By the way my music over Christmas will mostly be The Clash. But our differences are a cause for celebration methinks.

Love to all, Davey

don't understand this happy holiday what holidays? Christmas is Christmas is Christmas, it's a commemoration of the birth of Christ Jesus. seems most want to celebrate the trappings and forget the reason for the celebration. A Blessed Nativity of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Because not all of us are Christian and the world is for all humans - think Jews, Muslims, Hindus, and even atheists. What don't you get?

Not all of us are Christians my friend. To some of us it is only a holiday period. No disrespect. I'm a pagan and celebrated the winter Solstice for instance, but I'm really happy to wish you a happy Christmas! Lets celebrate our differences as we do on Camino and not put lines in the sand we cannot cross.

Much love

Davey

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Apologies for sending you on what seems to have been a wild goose chase I went back and discovered that the the recording doesn't show up when searched for under 'Capella Nova' for some reason, but I think that I have solved the problem. If you key in the title of the CD 'Who Are These Angels?' Macmillan on Amazon, that should take you to the listing and there are samples - it is track 9 I seem to recall. Hope this helps. And a big thank you to Ivar, without this site I would never have walked the Camino and my life would have been all the poorer for that. Merry Christmas/ Happy Holidays/ Happy Hannukah Ivar and everyone, faith or no faith, peace and goodwill is what I am sure we all wish for each other.
