Thanks for your input but they were not under any furniture! There was a similar pair of shoes left behind and therefore we assumed they were taken by accident. We have now heard from the pilgrim that took them accidentally. We posted here trying to reach out to people currently on the Camino. Sorry if this goes against any rules.

It absolutely doesn't! You did nothing wrong - people post here all the time about things that have gone missing. I'm glad they turned up and wish all out there a buen camino - with the right shoes!
