We are coming in Santiago in week and need to take public transportation to our start in Sarria. It looks like we can reserve and purchase bus tickets at monbus.es. I assume we just get a confirming email. Any tips or things to know?

Thanks,

Ray

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
I don't know what your budget looks like but you can also just grab a taxi at the airport to take you to Sarria or contact Caminofacil and see what they'd charge for a taxi.

Gosh, I just typed a load of stuff but my typing has disappeared. In essence, the following info is from an earlier thread,. Seems like an economical way to get to Sarria. I was recently in the bus station and it is fairly easy to find your desk, and people are helpful. Might be an idea if you have no Spanish to print on a card what you want - ie, Bus a Lugo/ Sarria, and that way you might save time! Wishing you the best. By the way, Monbus don’t really do booking ahead. It is like a normal service route rather than a long distance route.

I have never pre-booked on Monbus. Just pay the driver. As the post above say, but a bit more comfortable.s, it's just like an ordinary bus.

Thanks Annie. Our budget is not super tight, so given that we will be at the end of trip from the US, a taxi might be good. I have traveled in Latin America BTW in the past and have been to Madrid on business in the past, so am fairly comfortable in basic communication. I was just trying to see if there were special concerns about a taxi from the airport to our first night's lodging in Santiago.

Thanks,

Ray

Kirkie, Thanks for the reply. We did look at the trains but they appear only to have an option at 8:30 am. So it seemed more reasonable to take the 3 pm bus. It sounds like there are no reserved seats so we need to get that early to ensure a seat? We are just a week off and it looks like we can purchase the tickets on monbus.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
I think you are totally correct. I did my best to book ahead with Monbus, but there is no need at all. The bus we took to Ferrol was, as mentioned in an earlier post, very comfortable. We were upstairs with a grandstand view of the world around us. Wish you th best of caminos...
