There appears to be a high incidence rate of Monkeypox in Spain. I understand that one way it can be caught is through contact with clothing/bedding/blankets that have been used by somebody who is unfortunate enough to be infected. Given that people are using Albergue’s just for one night and then moving on, are there any transmission concerns?

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

I've just returned from the Camino Frances — Albergues provide disposable sheets and, following Covid protocols, usually mop the rooms with bleach. They generally do not provide blankets, if you are cold, use your sleeping bag. I think there is very low likelihood of catching monkeypox from Albergue beds.

I can only speak for the albergues where I have worked. When bottom sheets and pillow cases are provided, they are laundered in between each pilgrim. Rooms are cleaned and mopped daily along with the bathrooms. Common areas and kitchens are cleaned daily. Bring your own liner bag or sleeping bag if you are worried.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.

Ditto to Scabies which has made a resurgence during Covid; Human Body Lice and Bedbugs!

Is it contractable on surfaces? I have not heard this. It is spread by close, usually intimate, human contact.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
