My camino blog - http://www.amawalker.blogspot.com - has been nominated for a Best Travel Blog award on the SA blog awards which is a showcase of the very best of South African blogs.

A South African travel blog has commented on the travel blogs awards
The blog I like best in terms of travel photos is 66 Square Feet (whilst I like the photos on Cape Town Photo & Amawalker, they aren't as South Africa travel focussed). If this were an international competition I would choose Amawalker as the winner.

Hey, muchas gracias guys! I think my blog is the lowest in the traffic rankings so I never expected it - with its pilgrimage specific content - to be nominated. Will let you know as soon as I hear anything.

Hi Sil,
Vote confirmed!
I think your site is a very good site. Good luck in the awards.

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
I voted too. I actually voted 3 times by mistake. I kept clicking the submit button because I thought my computer was being slow but I was actually voting again. I got three emails confirming my votes. I guess it was okay to vote more than once.

That's good to know. They were all for sil so it is okay.

Hello Sil!
I just received confirmation of my vote for you!
All the best. Anne

THANK YOU - GRACIAS - to everyone who voted. My blog is a runner up, and I am sooooo... chuffed with that. I never really though of my blog as a 'travel' blog - more as a personal walker, hiker, pilgrimage blog.
Thanks again!

...sounds like a good thing!

Buen Camino,

Hi Sil,
It is good to hear that your blog has received the attention that it deserves, I would vote it tops as the blog delivers information on a very measured tone, soothes the hysterics which so many bloggers are so prone to blog in extremis.

It is non-religious without putting off those pilgrims who do it as a pilgrimage, it has no pre-conceived dogma on what a proper pilgrimage should entail. The blog is respectful to all Catholics and non-Catholics, to believers and non-believers.

Sil's blog is pragmatic and accepts and advises on the latest electronic gadgets which are carried without condemning the uses of these modern conveniences. The blog shares the trials and tribulations of those who completes, and also those who do not, the Camino without being judgmental.

Sil's blog is very even tempered as some of the stuff written on this forum could do with a bit of censoring and rebuttal. For that, and for the other qualities mentioned above, I say that this blog is numero uno and will always be a classic. It is obvious that it is written from the heart.

Thank you Kwaheri - that is very kind of you!
